Tuesday’s Weather Plan

Throughout the morning scattered showers (and possibly a few isolated storms) will be making their way in to NW Arkansas and the River Valley. It is doubtful that we will see any severe weather. If we do however, our main severe weather threats would be gusty winds and small hail.

Throughout the day not only will it be wet but it will also be windy and much colder. Afternoon highs are going to be falling into the 40s. So today your jacket will be working double duty: 1) to keep you dry and 2) to keep you warm later today.

Tomorrow, late day sun appears and highs will move into the upper 50s and low 60s.

9:30 PM Monday Update

Scattered showers and storms have developed ahead of a cold front across Kansas and Oklahoma this evening. These showers and storms will move in our direction after midnight. We don’t expect widespread strong to severe storms; however, an isolated strong to severe storm is possible overnight. The main threat with the strongest storms are dime to nickel hail. Gusty winds to 50 mph are also possible. Locally heavy rain with some lightning and thunder will be common.

We will have a shock to the system once the front arrives Tuesday morning. Temperatures throughout the late morning into the afternoon will fall into the 30s and 40s!

Overnight Rain

Looks like our showers may be waiting until very early tomorrow morning before making their way in to NW Arkansas. Earlier models had indicated some of the rain might arrive by late Monday night but now, that may not be the case.

Clearly models are only guidelines but they certainly are great tools in helping us pinpoint exactly when you are going to see showers. As of right now we are not really looking for severe weather in these passing showers. Nevertheless, during this time of the year I certainly wouldn’t completely rule out an isolated storm.

With that in mind, keep it right here for the latest developments as our next chance of rain showers moves closer.

Where Will The Severe Weather Be This Week?

Good news here folks, as it appears right now most of the severe weather will be east and west of us early this week. A cold front will move south Monday afternoon/evening and storms will break out along this front in Kansas and northern Oklahoma. The atmosphere will be unstable enough in these areas to help create some strong storms, mainly hail producers and a few with strong winds. So, a Slight risk of severe weather has been posted by the SPC for areas just off to our west…

By the time these storms start getting into NWAR and the River Valley early Tuesday morning very little instability will be available. So, other than a few storms capable of some small hail and gusty winds, no severe weather is expected here Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon the cold front will have passed into central Arkansas and that is where the severe weather will be possible. Here in our area, it will be cooling off behind the cold front, and by the afternoon temps will be in the upper 40s and 50s! Another Warm Day

A weak disturbance is triggering some light showers across central Oklahoma this morning. Right now these showers are showing a weakening trend, but if they hold together we could see some brief light showers moving through eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas starting around 10-11 am.

For the rest of the day we will be warm and windy with highs topping out in the 60s and 70s. Tomorrow temperatures will be in the 70s, but an approaching cold front will bring a chance for some showers late Monday. We could see some isolated showers Monday afternoon, but most of the rain will hold off until Monday night as the cold front moves through the area.

Instability ahead of the front will be low, so the severe weather threat will be minimal with storms Monday night. Some of the stronger storms could produce gusty winds and some locally heavy rainfall.

Razorfest Sunshine… and Sunrise

I hope you were able to make it down to RAZORFEST today. We all had a wonderful time. This is the SUNRISE TEAM (Derek, Kelly, and myself). The weather was perfect. When we all got down there around 9:30 it was a little chilly – but by noon time it was sunny and 60s!

This wonderful weather is going to last through your Sunday as well. In fact, Sunday will be an almost carbon copy of Saturday with the exception of slightly warmer temperatures on Sunday morning.

Rain showers will be moving in later on Monday.

A Cold Start

We’re starting this Saturday morning with temperatures in the 30s and 40s across the area. Despite our cool morning afternoon temperatures will warm up pretty nicely today.

This afternoon will be pleasant as highs will climb to the 60s and 70s. So if you’re planning on heading to Razorfest early this morning thing will still be cool with temperatures in the lower 50s.

By the afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 50s with highs topping out in the mid 60s later today.

Highs Sunday and Monday will stay in the 60s and 70s. But by Monday night a cold front will start to approach the area bringing rain into the area late Monday through early Tuesday.

Frost Advisory Tonight

A Frost Advisory has been issued for the entire viewing area until 8:00 a.m. A clear sky and light winds will allow temperatures to fall into the low to middle 30s for Saturday morning. Take some time to cover up the garden and bring in the sensitive plants. A hard freeze is not anticipated.

On average the last freeze date has come and gone for northwest Arkansas and the River Valley; however, record freezing temperatures have been recorded all of the way into the middle of May.

Saturday Razorfest Weather

We are excited to help sponsor Razorfest again this year! This is a great free event for the family, and it’s time to take advantage of some beautiful weather on Saturday! It will be cool at the start with temperatures int he lower 50s.

Going into the early afternoon the clouds and sun along with breezy south winds should push temperatures into the upper 50s!

Grab the sunblock for tomorrow. Temperatures to start of the Red/White game should be in the lower 60s. Highs on Saturday will top out around 66! I’ll be there from Noon until 2:30! Come out and say hello.
