Winter weather returns to the forecast Monday night into Tuesday morning. An upper level low will move across the area on Monday providing afternoon and early evening rainfall.
Cold air will move in between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. across northwest Arkansas. Rain will likely change to sleet and snow through midnight. Snow is expected across northwest Arkansas between midnight and 4 a.m.
The River Valley will remain rain through midnight. Midnight to 4 a.m. there is a chance for a rain and snow mix. The upper elevations of the Ouachitas could experience a faster switch with increased cooling.
Here is our in-house model we call the RPM. These are the predicted snowfall total for this event. Looks like northwest Arkansas could pick up between 1 and 2 inches. The higher total would be more toward the upper elevations across northwest Arkansas.
The River Valley will see a possible mix, but no accumulations are expected at this point. Ouachitas could pick up to an inch across Scott, Logan, and southern LeFlore counties.

Weather
So not fair! I hate it that we are always warmer than Northwest Arkansas.
Any chance that this will change? At this point, i think i’d be happy if we could see at least 1 inch of something.
What are the chances of 2-3 inches out of this system?
When is the next update?
