October 2009 will go down as the 3rd wettest October ever recorded and the coldest October ever recorded in Fort Smith. Here are some impressive monthly rainfall totals. Note that Mena has already picked up on more than 70 inches of rain for the year, that should easily be the most ever recorded.

Trick or Treat Forecast…..

Saturday night’s looking perfect for the trick or treaters.  Under a clear sky temperatures around sundown will start in the mid to upper 50’s, and slowly drop into the mid to upper 40’s by 10 p.m.  Winds will be light, so don’t expect a wind chill problem.  Happy Halloween!

Here’s the latest visible satellite image.  The clouds are eroding across eastern Oklahoma faster than expected.  That’s good news because we’ll likely see a mix of clouds and sun this afternoon before going completelyclear by this evening!  The RUC model guidance also supports this solution.

Very impressive totals from this storm system; and the rain isn’t finished yet!  The severe weather threat is done for the night.  Lingering showers just ahead of the front will continue through midnight.

Showers and storms responsible for producing heavy rainfall and gusty winds are slowly moving out of northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.  Although a tornado watch remains in effect until Midnight, the overall severe threat is winding down across the area.
